RXPE's 66kV Direct Connected LTT SVC put into operation

In 2009, RXPE cooperated with Anshan Power Company, successfully completed East Anshan Substation direct connected to 66kV bus Light-Triggered Thyristor (LTT) SVC project. Contract amount is less than 5% of last annual sales revenue.
The result shows that 66kV Direct Connected LTT SVC operate stable and response fast, highly improve the power quality of the 66kV bus. This SVC has redundant hot standby function, greatly reduce the possibility of system and support 66kV bus voltage increasing, all targets are met or exceeded the expected level. The 66kV direct connected SVC successful operation declares China’s big breakthroughs on reactive power compensation of higher voltage level.
The project achieved important innovations on application of large capacity light triggered thyristor, SVC highest voltage level, twin towers vertical structure valve with average pressure shielding ring, digital hot-standby without disturbance switching controller, etc. At present, the project has applied for two national invention patents, five utility model patents and all are entertained.
Bus voltage level of East Anshan substation is 66kV, while the existing SVC operation voltage level around the world is generally not reached it. The East Anshan Substation direct connected to 66kV bus Light-Triggered Thyristor (LTT) SVC is the first application on this voltage level and fill the industry gaps.
The 66kV voltage level is one of characteristics of the Northeast power grid. The successful operation of this RXPE’s , not only solve the dynamic reactive compensation problem of East Anshan substation, but also remove technical barriers for SVC wider application in the Northeast power grid, has an important demonstration meaning to promote on the national grid and the European 69kV power grid.
